Group Rides and Repair Classes!
Jan/22/2013 03:29 PM
Several important dates!
First, Friday February 1st at 6PM there will be an information session regarding group rides for the 2013 season. We hope to see you at the shop. There will be food and drink, information about when and where the rides will occur. Which nights will be dedicated to road, which to mountain, hopefully a slow recreational ride can be fit in here or there for bike path riders.
We will also have sample pieces for our new shop apparel. Giordana will be making our road apparel for next season. High quality materials, made in Italy, these pieces will be sure to impress. Come down and try some on, if you like them we will have them available for preordering at a discount.

Also we are now booking repair classes for February. Classes are scheduled for 2/6 (Part 1) and 2/13 (Part 2) or 2/8 (Part 1 section 2) or 2/15 (Part 2 section 2). Classes cost 50 for one class, or 80 for both. Email greg@classcycles.com with questions.

Bike Fitting At Class Cycles
Sep/20/2012 11:57 PM
Hi Folks! Those of you who have been with us for a while know we used to offer bike fitting through Robin McCahill’s Intuit Bike Fitting company. With Robin moving her business to her home in Thomaston to facilitate limitations from a cycling injury, we’ve been in need for a system to call our own and have in house. We’re proud to present to you the latest in bike fitting straight off the boat from France. Introducing the Cyfac Postural System.

The Cyfac Postual System takes a set of 9 key measurements and runs them their computer program with all kinds of math I don’t understand. At the heart of this program is a database of more than sixty thousand fits. (That’s 60,000, or commonly referred to as A LOT.) These fits, performed by the French Sports Medicine Institute provide the base for determining what position allows you to ride comfortably and efficiently.
The system takes extra information into account, such as pedal and shoe types, saddle type, spine injuries. At the end of your complete fit you walk away with not only your measurements for setting up your current bike, but the ideal geometry of a custom frame. Whether or not you use it to get a custom frame is up to you, but it will also be helpful for purchasing your next bicycle.
A complete Cyfac Postural System fit will take between 30 to 45 minutes and will cost 200 dollars. There are programs in place to get credit from this purchase applied toward a bike purchase from Class Cycles.
A simple fit will take 15 minutes and cost 60 dollars.
Please email me with any questions! greg@classcycles.com

Great New Class Cycles Gear
Mar/10/2012 05:01 PM
We’ve got some great new gear in at Class Cycles. First and foremost, we’ve finally got shop jerseys again! These Primal jerseys came out awesome. And priced at $64.99 it’s a cheap way to get a great high quality jersey.

In addition to jerseys, we’ve also doing Class Cycles Camelbak water bottles. If you’re not familiar with them, these bottles feature what Camelbak calls a “Jet Valve” which is a self sealing valve. No more biting open your water bottles and spilling drink mix all over yourself (or maybe only I do that). Just squeeze the bottom and you’re on your way. 2 Great options, 24 oz. clear, and 25 oz. insulated. $9.99 and $14.99 respectively.

Repair Classes
Feb/03/2012 07:05 PM
Class Cycles repair class are in full swing. For those unfamiliar with the program we offer 3 different classes. The first goes over the basics of bicycle repair including adjustments of the shifting and braking systems. The second class gets more into the fine tuning of the bicycle including bearing adjustments such as the headset and bottom bracket, and more difficult repairs such as wheel truing. The 3rd class is open ended and great if you have something specific not covered by the first two classes you want to learn. In previous years customers have used this class to learn chain replacement, frame prepping, and other less common jobs.
Classes begin at 6:30pm and run for 2 hours. You can choose to bring your own bike or not, though most find it is useful to 1. work with a familiar drivetrain and 2. more useful to apply the skills they learned to the real world when they learn on the bike they’ll need to apply them to.
Classes are limited to 4 people per class ensuring everyone gets the personal attention they need to be successful with the class.
Cost of the classes is based on the number you take. If you take a single class it is 50 dollars. If you take two classes the total is 80 dollars (40 a class), and if you take all three the total cost is 110 dollars (a little over 36 dollars a class). Class dates can be found below or on the shop calendar.
Class 1:
2/7 2/9 2/14 2/14
Class 2:
2/21 2/23 2/28 3/1
Class 3:
3/6 3/9 3/13 3/15
